How often do I get my chimney swept?

These are only a guide as several factors determine the frequency of having your chimney swept; the type of fuel you burn, your appliance, the type of chimney or flue and the moisture level in your fuel. And of course how often you use your open fire or stove.
Based on the type of fuel used:
- Smokeless fuel – At least once per year
- Coal – Quarterly when in use
- Wood – Quarterly when in use
- Multi fuel – Quarterly when in use
- Gas fires – Annually
- Aga & Rayburns Gas or Oil – Annually
If you have a high moisture content in your fuel, you will create more smoke and a less efficient fire.
